TT electronics IRC WAFT Announces Plant Closure
TT electronics International Resistive Corporation WAFT Division has announced it will be closing the Boone, NC manufacturing plant in 2012. TT electronics IRC WAFT will be moving the majority of the Boone manufacturing operations to Mexicali, Mexico with most of the balance moving to IRC AFD Division in Corpus Christi, TX. The product lines will be moved over the course of the next 12 to 16 months. The closure is in reaction to competitive challenges experienced with the products manufactured in Boone.
The Boone facility employs 143 employees. Affected employees will be notified at least 60 days prior to the end of their assignment and will be offered severance as well as provided assistance for outplacement and training through local and state resources. Employees will also be able to apply for employment opportunities in other businesses within TT electronics. A number of sales and administrative positions will not be impacted by this move.
