The dual channel encoders offer non-contact switching with single or double apertures for high resolution. The designer may select their encoder from a choice of slot widths, electrical outputs, and side-by-side or over/under dual channels. Phototransistor switching occurs when an opaque object passes through the device slot. Dual channels enable direction of travel sensing with the low-cost plastic housing to reduce possible interference from ambient light and to protect from dust and dirt.
