Torotel extends TT’s list of blue-chip US aerospace and defense customers and provides access to growth programs with sole-sourced positions on major platforms. TT continues to be committed to investment that supports the acceleration of its growth prospects and increases the breadth and differentiation of its engineering capability.

TT has agreed to acquire Excelitas Technologies Corp.’s, Covina, California based business that designs and manufactures power supplies for defence and aerospace markets from Excelitas, for $17.7 million.

The acquisition enhances TT’s US presence in power electronics for aerospace and defence, providing access to growth programmes with sole-source positions. The acquisition will add a number of blue-chip US defence primes. TT is committed to investing in the business to further improve the business’ growth prospects and engineering capability.

Building on recent acquisitions of Stadium Group plc and Precision Inc., this business activity is integral to TT’s emphasis on innovation, higher margins, and a strong position in complex electronics design and manufacturing. TT systems and solutions are underpinned by design and integration capabilities and dedicated R&D centres focused on technology developments in power management, wireless connectivity, human machine interfaces (HMI), and single board computing (SBC).

Precision brings new design, simulation and manufacturing capabilities to TT in electromagnetics, one of our focus areas for growth. Precision’s products are primarily sold into medical applications including pace makers, neurological implants and other in-body equipment as well as external diagnostic equipment such as dialysis machines and MRI scanners. Precision also serves industrial and aerospace and defence customers in applications including satellite power supplies and aerospace guidance systems. Precision’s capabilities include high-reliability, ultra-fine wire winding, particularly suited to components that require exceptionally high levels of precision. Precision will be integrated into the Power Electronics division.
