40th Anniversary of Manufacturing Resistors at Corpus Christi Site

October 20th saw the fortieth anniversary of the commencement of resistor manufacturing at TT Electronics' Corpus Christi, Texas site.

October 20th saw the fortieth anniversary of the commencement of resistor manufacturing at TT Electronics' Corpus Christi, Texas site. The site was converted from retail use in 1975 by IRC, which at the time was part of TRW Inc.

An initial staff of 30 was employed at the former Shoppers World general merchandise store, which was at that point only 50% converted to industrial use. The remainder of the area was converted over the subsequent six months with the numbers employed rising to over 100 by early 1976. The then Operations Manager, Jerry Gosda said at the time "We are very satisfied and pleased with the personnel we have employed. We have no problems and have met no negative surprises."

The early production focused on axial discrete resistors, but the site soon developed into a leader in high reliability tantalum nitride film resistors and networks. Over the intervening decades it has supplied critical components into many high reliability military, avionic, satellite and space exploration systems.
